Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

There isn’t a particular genre that I avoid, but I do have favorites.  I’ll choose a mystery thriller over science fiction any day of the week, but I’ve been known to read educational brochures printed in Spanish when nothing else is available.  As a matter of fact, I have even spent time flipping through Teen Geek’s Japanese texts, even though I have no idea what I’m looking at. I’m sure if I stare long enough I’ll come up with something! (Oh, and I can tell you what it says on my shampoo bottle- in English and French. I have to read something in the shower.)

So…my question is- What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever read, just to be reading?

I am always reading odd stuff. I read ingredients. I read car owners manuals. I read the backs of receipts. Although since I got my smart phone? I do a lot less of that since I always have books with me. (And audio books on speakers while I shower and clean.)

I haven’t put any books on my smart phone…yet.

Great idea to have the audio books on in the house. We usually use those for road trips.

I can so relate to reading weird things when there is nothing else including the encyclopedia and product labels.

    Have a great weekend.

Stop by my HOP if you have a chance.

Nothing weird about reading encyclopedias and product labels, is there? What about the thesaurus? I never would have made it through 5th grade without that monster thesaurus to keep me occupied.

Hahahah your post made me smile =) You’re definitely a dedicated reader! I can’t say I’ve ever read in the shower before, but when I get the chance I love taking a book with me in the bath tub.

Great post!!! New Follower here. I read everything I can get my hands on too. Except one type. Memoirs!!! EWW lol I just can’t get into them.

Thanks, Ali…Memoirs can be difficult to digest. They tend to either be extremely sanitized or well embellished, but every once in awhile you find a “just right” on the shelf.

Love your answer! I am like that a lot, but only when the words are in a language I understand. ;)

I love you blog design by the way! Happy to be a new follower. :) My FF post

  8. I’ve read ticket stubs, old lists, classified ads for things I have no interest in buying, anything and everything … except romance novels.

I’ve read a few romances, but I don’t usually admit that to people. I find them…interesting…mainly because I can’t believe that they sell SO MANY of them!

  9. I love your answer. I used to read the backs of cereal boxes regardless of how many times I’ve read them! Also I have a sick interest in ingredient labels.

    Thanks for stopping by!
