This idea came about when I was discussing the power of words with Word Nerd Teen. I am sure that I will be revisiting this idea, using a larger canvas and different media.
Supplies: blank canvas, pencil, paint, thin tipped brush and a list of famous (“I did not have sexual relations with that woman.”) and common (“You look great!”) lies.
Prepare your canvas- mine was stained, so I used a palette knife to lay on a thin layer of white paint. Use the pencil to very lightly sketch the lines of your web. Make sure you are happy with the placement of the lines…mine were wonky from the get-go, so it looks like my spider was intoxicated. Now you are ready to add your lies.
As you can see, I just printed my lies onto the guidelines. I probably would have had more success using a marker or a real ink pen with a calligraphic tip. However, I created this while waiting for my kids to emerge from class, so I was limited to the items I had thrown in my bag on the way out the door.
I’m still very much enamored by this idea. I think it will go through several incarnations before I am finally “finished”!
What is your favorite famous lie?

Nothing wrong with wonky lines … oh, what a tangled web we weave.
